Aladdin Rainbow User Becomes LV Community Activist
"I’ve had an Aladdin Rainbow for seven years," says Vivian, "...and I would not have missed having this for anything! I want other people to benefit from these machines, too." At 82 years old, Vivian Childers is still sharp as a tack. Not only is she a great-grandmother to 32 little ones, but she also has those her own age to look after. Vivian serves as a sort of community liaison for her assisted living center. Recently, she recruited a Telesensory representative to address a full house on coping with macular degeneration and glaucoma. "I went to bed sighted and when I woke up, I couldn’t read," said Simini, 83, of San Francisco. "I was flabbergasted."
As a former CPA and college professor, Joseph Peter Simini knows first-hand the importance of reading and writing - whether it be reading academic publications or student assignments. One can then imagine what a shock it was to Simini when he lost some of his near vision, literally, overnight.
"(The Aladdin Rainbow) has been a Godsend," added Simini. "I can’t recommend it highly enough. I like the fact that if something is too small to read, I can enlarge it. Be it a letter, phone number, or address. I’m even able to do crossword puzzles again."

Patricia Terry of Soledad, California, has been diagnosed with macular degeneration for over five years. But that doesn’t stop her from doing the things she loves to do. She uses the Aladdin Ultra Pro 75 to keep organized. Patricia uses the machine most frequently for sorting things that she wants to salvage during "spring cleaning." "I have so many papers, cards, different things that I’m able to put under the unit to decide what to throw away," she says.

Mr. LaFoya and his wife Louise share many beloved interests, including dancing the Jitterbug, for which they won a national championship. The couple avidly follows baseball, and much of their time during the regular season is spent keeping up on batting averages and other exciting statistics. "I love to read the sports section, and with the versatility Olympia offers, now I can put on the neck strap and view the newspaper on the go, or on my television screen!" says Mr. LaFoya. "Or, I can even use Olympia in the car while my wife drives," adds LaFoya.
